Vinyasa Flow

Most vinyasa style classes refer to a continuous movement of the body while using breath to move through various asanas (postures). The vinyasa is the transition of movement that is used between each series of asanas. An Ashtanga vinyasa yoga builds on this continuous movement but also offers more gymnast exercise movements throughout. This is a more active pace flow, not quite as challenging as power yoga but still a dynamic flow. Ashtanga vinyasa is an all encompassing practice based in ancient philosophy of the 8 ‘limbs’ or components of yoga; yamas (social codes), niya (personal codes), asanas (physical practice), pranayama (breath), pratyahara (withdrawing the mind from the senses), dharana (concentration), dhyana (deep meditation), and samadhi (onesness with the subject of meditation). This active pace flow will promote progression of strength, focus and flexibility.
